Relationship Reset Intensive
Four hours. One individual or one couple. My undivided attention.
You have had the same conversation so many times that you can almost predict how it will end.
One of you explains. The other becomes defensive. Someone withdraws. And once again, the issue remains unresolved.
If you are looking for a private couples intensive in Westchester County, New York, the Relationship Reset Intensive offers four dedicated hours to examine the pattern that keeps bringing you back to the same place.
We meet in person at my private Understanding Ear office in Peekskill, NY. There are no other couples, no group sessions, and no shared retreat setting.
This is focused relationship coaching for one individual or one couple, offered by invitation only.
Your relationship is not sharing the room with anyone else's.
When you are discussing betrayal, intimacy, resentment, or the possibility of ending a marriage, privacy matters.
During your Intensive, I work exclusively with you or with you and your partner. There are no other couples, no group exercises, and no audience.
You have my undivided professional attention for the four-hour session. That gives us room to pause when something important surfaces, examine what each person heard, and return to a difficult conversation without rushing to the next appointment.
You know the problem keeps returning. You need to understand why.
An Intensive is not appropriate for every relationship or every stage of conflict. That is why I offer this format by invitation only, after an initial phone conversation.
We work with the conversation that keeps going wrong.
Sometimes the most important moment happens while you are describing the problem.
One person says something. The other hears an accusation. A request for reassurance becomes another demand for proof. Someone tries to explain, and the explanation sounds like an excuse.
I pay attention to those moments. I may interrupt, ask what you meant, ask what your partner heard, or invite you to say something again with greater clarity.
We do not simply identify what is wrong. We look at what each person is contributing, what responsibility is being avoided, and what a different response would actually sound like.
Identify the pattern
Separate the recurring interaction from the latest disagreement.
Recognize the impact
Examine what each person says, hears, assumes, and does next.
Respond differently
Practice a more intentional conversation rather than repeating the old one.
Four hours gives us depth. It does not mean we need to cover everything.
We choose a meaningful area of focus based on your circumstances. That may include:
- Repeated communication breakdowns, defensiveness, withdrawal, or unresolved conflict
- Betrayal, rebuilding trust, accountability, and the recurring arguments that follow disclosure
- Emotional disconnection, resentment, or the feeling that you have become roommates
- Loss of physical intimacy and the emotional distance, pressure, or unmet needs beneath it
- Decisions about staying, leaving, or rebuilding the relationship differently
The goal is not to leave with every issue resolved. It is to understand a significant pattern clearly enough to begin making different choices.
Enough time to go deeper. Enough structure to remain present.
A difficult conversation can take time to unfold. Sometimes we need to hear each person's perspective separately, return to the interaction together, and revisit a moment after something new has become clear.
Four hours gives us that room without turning the work into a multi-day retreat. We include appropriate breaks and adjust the pace to what can be used productively.
I do not believe more hours automatically create more understanding. I believe focused attention, honest responsibility, and a willingness to communicate differently are what make the time meaningful.
I prepare for your specific situation.
You complete intake information before the Intensive. I review it in advance so our time together does not begin with me hearing everything for the first time.
We identify an appropriate area of focus before the session, while leaving room for important information that emerges in the conversation.
You receive a comprehensive written recap.
Four hours can bring important observations, difficult truths, and new ways of understanding your relationship.
Your personalized recap organizes what became important, the patterns we identified, and the specific practices or decisions that need attention afterward.
The recap is included in your investment. It is prepared after we meet, not during your four hours together.

Weekend availability

Private pay
Understanding Ear is a private-pay coaching practice. Insurance is not billed.
By invitation only
An inquiry does not automatically reserve an Intensive. We begin with a phone conversation so I can understand your circumstances and determine whether this format is appropriate.
Relationship Reset coaching is not marriage counseling or psychotherapy.
Some people come to me after trying traditional couples counseling. Others are looking for a focused, communication-centered approach from the beginning.
My work addresses relationship patterns, trust, responsibility, emotional connection, and decisions about what comes next.
Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions and does not replace appropriate clinical care. If your situation requires that level of support, we will discuss it.
