Code of Ethics for Vanessa Cardenas, Founder of Understanding Ear, LLC

1. Equality

I will respect all different cultures, ethnicities, national origins, colors, genders, sexual orientations, gender identities, ages, religions, immigration statuses, and mental or physical disabilities. I will never reject a client based on these factors.

2. Confidentiality

I will keep everything discussed with my clients under strict confidence unless there is information that can put my client or other people in danger, or unless I receive consent from my client to divulge part of the information.

3. Personal Growth

I commit to continuously learning and developing new skills to serve my clients to the best of my capacity. This includes attending relevant workshops, seminars, and pursuing additional certifications in betrayal recovery and coaching.

4. Professional Relationship

I will maintain a strictly professional relationship with my clients, avoiding any closeness that may mislead to a romantic intention.

5. Payments

I will maintain complete clarity on the payment conditions of our coaching relationship from the beginning and will not charge any hidden fees.

6. Compassion

I will respect my client’s identity, stage of consciousness, experiences, values, and beliefs.

7. Communication

My communication will always be clear and respectful. I will avoid using foul language or raising my voice to get my point across.

8. Scope of Practice

I will refer my client to another professional immediately when I see that a situation falls outside of my scope of practice.

9. Professional Integrity

I will uphold the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior in all my professional activities. I will represent my qualifications and experience accurately and truthfully.

10. Continuing Education

I will engage in ongoing professional development to ensure that my knowledge and skills remain current. This includes obtaining continuing education units (CEUs) and staying informed about the latest research and trends in coaching and betrayal recovery.

11. Client Autonomy

I will empower my clients to make their own decisions and support their autonomy throughout the coaching process. I will provide guidance and insights but respect their right to choose their path.

12. Accountability

I will hold myself accountable for my actions and decisions, continuously reflecting on my practice to improve the quality of service I provide to my clients.
